The Emergency Physician Assistant (PA) delivers comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to adult and pediatric patients in the Emergency Department (ED). The PA practices independently, primarily focused on lower acuity patients managing their care from start to finish. Collaborating with board certified attendings as needed. The PA ensures timely care, efficient patient flow, and accurate medical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment & Triage: Perform rapid, thorough physical examinations, take patient histories, and prioritize care for patients in acute distress.
- Diagnostics: Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies (X-rays, CT scans), and ECGs to formulate accurate diagnoses.
- Treatment & Management: Develop treatment plans, administer medications, and provide therapeutic services.
- Procedures: Perform ED procedures including, but not limited to: laceration repairs, wound care, incision and drainage, splinting fractures, and supporting advanced procedures like intubation or lumbar punctures.
- Collaboration: Work with nurses, specialists, and physicians for safe patient disposition (discharge or admission).
- Documentation: Accurately document all patient encounters in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in real-time.
- Education: Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Certification: NCCPA certification (PA-C) and current state licensure.
- Licensure: ATLS (completion within 1 year of hire), BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care is preferred, but many institutions offer fellowship opportunities
Compensation Package
Pay ranges from $85-110 per hour, depending on years of experience as a PA.

$1500/year towards CME
$1500 benefits allowance towards Dental, Medical, Vision premiums.
PTO accrual: 1 hour for every 12 hours worked.
Reimbursement for licensure renewals and Medical Staff dues.
120 hours/month is considered full-time. Anything under is part time.
